Kevin Michael Powers

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Starmount Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am in the chapel with Rev. Ray Mims and Rev. Kathryn Campbell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Kevin was born in Burlington, North Carolina to William and Betty Powers. He has lived in various places in the United States and lived with his family for two years on Kwajalein Island in the Pacific. He always had a love for the military and was very knowledgeable in the history of the wars of our country and abroad.

He was a graduate of University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and had worked for many years in pharmaceutical sales. Recently, he worked in transportation, transporting workers for compensation cases to their physical therapy appointments.

Kevin never met a stranger and was especially kind to those in need. He had a great sense of humor, loved the beach; enjoyed boating, motorcycles and cars.

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Frank and Letty Stafford and paternal grandparents, Bennett and Nannie Powers. He is survived by his parents, William and Betty Powers of Greensboro; brother, Alan Powers and wife Rosa of Boone, NC; sister, Karen Nicely and husband Nathan of Chapel Hill; nephews, Dargan Powers of Raleigh, Aidan Powers of Winston Salem, Nolan Nicely and niece Nora Nicely both of Chapel Hill.
