Kimberly Alice Mattson
December 29, 1969 – September 25, 2019
On Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, Kimberly Alice Mattson passed away peacefully in her sleep in Greensboro, North Carolina. While she spent the last 15 years in North Carolina, this state was not her only home. Kimberly was born in Hollywood in 1969, to parents Barbara and William Mattson, before eventually moving to Arizona, her home for many years. In Arizona, she attended Marana High School and was presented with numerous awards acknowledging her strong skills as a softball player, a talent that came naturally to her. Kimberly is remembered as a lover of people and animals alike, though she had a particularly special bond with her dog Mack. Her inviting and bubbly personality often drew others to her and she would welcome anyone with open arms. Some of her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family, reading books, and watching films. Kim had the gift of finding joy in life’s simple pleasures and there were not many foods she would eat without ketchup. Kimberly was easy to please and even easier to get along with. While Kim faced her own struggles later in life, she was always a friend to anyone in need, giving others strength even during her own hardships. Many knew her to be a woman who was tough as nails with a heart of gold and she had a way of loving people without judgment, particularly when they needed it the most. Kimberly is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Brydon, and her three sisters, Carole Woodhouse, Barbara Mattson, and Diana Peyman. Family and friends alike will miss her warm presence dearly. Those who knew Kimberly or wish to honor her memory are invited to join the family in a celebration of life, which will take place at 3pm on Saturday, October 12th at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro.

I went to Marana highschool from 85-88. Kim was one of my first friends in 85. I moved here from Benson and she was the first person to smile at and be nice to me. We lost contact after school was over, but regained it later down the road. In 1999-2000, I had just become a single mom. It was Xmas and I Wasn't able to get the buzz light year for my son, and bicycle for my daughter. I had seen and talked to her at Walmart, that was about 2 weeks before Xmas in 2000. She calls me Xmas Eve, asks if she could stop by. She comes in bright and smiling, hugs me and says brb..... She comes back with a wrapped box with my son's name and a bicycle with a pretty now on it. She got them the gifts I couldn't get. I asked her how she knew, she was close by the cashier isle I was in. She saw that I had to put the bicycle and buzz away. She wouldn't except my money for them, but let me take her to lunch. it was a long time since I had talked to her. Was so shocked and saddened to see her obituary on fallen tigers. I am proud to have known Kim. She was my friend. My heart goes out to you all.

Meeting you Mattson Ladies has been an incredible journey, Kim and I became fast friends one summer when her, Amanda and I lived together. It was so much fun watching Rosemary and Austin play. Kim had a huge heart and beautiful smile with infectious laugh! We traveled together and we had a blast, fond memory of traveling to the White Mountains, again just proof of how huge your families hearts were, open arms! I wanted to be a Mom like her, she was so loving with Rosemary and it is what I imagined to be as a Mom. Rosemary, you turned out to be a beautiful young lady, I know your Mama was proud of you, when we reconnected thru FB we picked up right where we left off. I know Kim your at peace and we will meet again! You Mattson Ladies are an incredible bunch, Diana, I thank you for our friendship and becoming best friends when we were all younger and still never missing a beat now. Much love! Shane xoxo

I have very fond memories of our 7 weeks together. We greatly depended on one another for motivation and support during our training together. She will always be a fond memory and I pray that your family will be comforted through this tragedy. God bless you all. Here is a picture of our graduation from COTA 80.
