Laurie Ellen Powell

Laurie Murphy Powell, 60, went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday December 12, 2022 at Wesley Long Hospital. Laurie was a resident of Pleasant Garden, NC for many years. Laurie worked for 22 years in medical billing.

Laurie loved life, spending time with her family and friends, and celebrating with them. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she spent as much time as possible with them. Laurie loved the beach and went many times throughout her life. She loved to look out at the waves from a balcony and was at peace there. Laurie was a fan of the game of hockey and followed teams such as the Penguins and the Blackhawks, but was ultimately a fan of the Carolina Hurricanes. Laurie loved everyone and was always happy and bubbly. She loved shopping, her most favorite hobby. Laurie’s niece Sabrina was a very special person in her life. Sabrina acted as a caregiver to Laurie, and they had a special bond. Laurie and Sabrina talked every day and Sabrina did so much for her.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Ramona Murphy, and grandparents Abner and Ruby Densmore. Laurie is survived by her daughter Amber and her husband Jessie Lewis, and son Nathaniel Powell, and his wife Carolina, grandchildren Benjamin, Everette, and Elliott Lewis. Sisters Melinda Crawford and Therese Hicks and her husband William, and many nieces and nephews.
