Lawrence, better known as Larry, was born February 21, 1945, to Lawrence D. Fields, Sr. and Martha Lena Presnell Fields, both of whom preceded him in death. Larry also was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Fields.
Larry worked with D.H. Griffin Wrecking, Co. from 1959 until his retirement in 2015. Over the years, he advanced through many roles, beginning as a laborer and later serving as an equipment operator, truck driver, foreman, superintendent, and estimator. For many years, he served as the Atlanta Division Manager where he oversaw numerous major demolition projects.
Larry loved fishing and listening to oldies music. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren fish in his backyard pond. He was a great story teller and could “BS” with the best of them.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David Fields and Bobby Fields (Karen); his daughters, Tiffany Fields Valentine (Drew) and Sharon Ricketts; his grandchildren, Tyler, Cody (Brittany), Emily (Russell), Garrett, Branson, William, and Wesley;and his great-grandchildren, Aubree, Raelynn, Briar, and River. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Fields and sister Tansy Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family is planning a celebration of Larry’s life at a later date.
