Mr. Lenzy Wade Stewart leaves his family with these lessons by which to live. The honor first goes to God, serve others as Christ served us, always speak the truth with gentleness and kindness, and appreciate the treasure of a loving wife and family.
Wade was born in Lee County, NC, one of five children, to the late Bernice Preston and Lessie Wilkie Stewart and preceded in death by his three sisters and one brother. In 1948, he met Frances “Frankie” Burns, the girl he would marry in 1949 in the parsonage of First Baptist Church and share 72 years of life, making beautiful memories, raising three children and providing a loving Christian home. He and Frankie joined S. Elm St. Baptist Church in 1949 and have remained faithful active members. Wade was a metal fabricator and retired from Edmunds Manufacturing after 31 years of service in 1995. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whistling a tune as he tended the garden, and enjoyed camping with Frankie.
In addition to the love of his life Frankie, surviving Wade are his three children, Dale (Kimberly) Stewart of Charlotte, Linda Stewart of Thomasville, and Janice (Brent) Edge of Greensboro; grandchildren, Lara (Allen) James, Charles (Beth) Cranford, Bonny (Chuck) Buckley, Matthew (Julyia) Stewart, Andrew Stewart, Sara (Stephen) Racheff, Madison (Jamie) Wilson, Tony Thompson and Daniel (Teresa) Thompson; great grandchildren, Annabelle, Dominic, Logan, Morgan, Augustus, Sadie, Hadley and Hailey; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
His life will be celebrated at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 10 at S. Elm Street Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Lawrence Clapp, Pastor. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
