

Leonard Szweda, 67, of Kimberton, PA, died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. The family will receive friends in the Blair Hagan Room at First Presbyterian Church following the service. A gathering of friends will also be held on Sunday June 21, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the home of Janice Young, 1113 Hill St., Greensboro, NC 27408.
Leonard was born September 17, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Leonard John Szweda and Sarah Waters Szweda.
Leonard graduated from Tyler School of Art at Temple University with a degree in Fine Art. He then served his country as a Captain in the US Marine Corps during the war in Vietnam. Following his term of duty, he attended LaSalle University in Philadelphia earning a degree in Accounting.
Leonard always had a passion for computers and spent the past 18 years as a computer engineer at Vertex, Inc. in Berwyn, PA. His co-workers described him as a man of wisdom, patience, kindness, and always had a warm smile.
He was an avid Phillies fan that never missed a game whether watching it on TV or sitting in the stadium with his son Alex, snacking on a Tony Luke’s hoagie and crabby fries. His other interests included spending time with their dog Lucy, painting and riding his motorcycle.
Leonard was married for 20 years to the love is his life, Carol. They enjoyed jogging with their faithful four-legged companion, Lucy, climbing the trails in Meadows of Dan to find Cloudbreak rock and snuggling on the couch with Lucy watching a Phillies game. Their love is eternal and a bond that will never be broken.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Szweda and his nephew, Deebs Young.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Carol Brown Szweda, sons, Alex Szweda and Lenny Szweda, his mother Sarah Waters Szweda, sisters, Terry Flood and Donna Jean Szweda, and ten nieces and nephews who adored him.
