

After graduating from Pleasant Garden High School, Lewis joined the US Air Force where he proudly served his country for 20 years. He and his family enjoyed assignments to various US bases, England and West Germany.
After retirement from the Air Force, he returned to Greensboro where he managed the Greensboro Purolator Courier Service terminal before its merger with Emory Worldwide. In 1979, he opened Way Courier Service which he operated until 2008.
Lewis was a loving and caring husband and a very proud dad and grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing with his buddies.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Jo Ann; sons, Lewis, Robert and Keith, all of Greensboro; sisters, LaRue Whittemore of Liberty, NC, Sue Gregson and Jan Way, both of Randleman, NC; granddaughters, Michelle Castillo of High Point, NC and Amber Way of Greensboro, NC; great grandchildren, Sonja, Ricky and Vincent Chea of Greensboro, NC and Carmen Castillo of High Point, NC and several nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday evening, August 12th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Casual attire is encouraged.
