

Lois and husband John relocated in 1952 and Greensboro became her city. Her list of achievements and contributions here are numerous. Chairperson Mobile Meals, Council on Aging Board, United Way Planning Division, County Bicentennial Commission, Former President YWCA Board, PTA President, Past President Eastern Music Festival, United Arts Council Board, Greensboro Symphony Board, Greensboro Preservation Society, Weatherspoon Gallery Guild, Founding Member IRC, plus a decade on the Greensboro City Council. Active in her church, Holy Trinity Episcopal, she served on the Vestry, Steering Committee Greensboro Child Care Services, Executive Committee Episcopal Child Care Diocese of NC, Holy Trinity Outreach Commission.
In her down time she opened several retail businesses including, The House of the Dove, Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, The Chase Restaurant and The Perfect Poppy dress shop. She was fashionable, witty, with a zeal for life that was infectious and opinions on most everything. She was socially liberal and fiscally conservative. That combination brought her a cadre of friends from all walks of life that have shared testimonies on how she changed their lives, all for the better. She was a powerful force that worked tirelessly for those in need. The common thread that was woven into her her life was simply, LOVE. She stole a catch phrase from cousin Michael Chace and would use it at every opportunity: “Its all about the L-O-V-E”. When ending a meeting or a phone call,
she would tell the other respondent, I love you, and she meant it. Plus, she made wicked tuna salad sandwich and a good vodka Gimlet. She is survived by daughter Merrill of Destin, Fla, son and daughter in law Mark & Cindy of Charlotte, NC ,granddaughters Alaina of LA,Ca and Maureen of Atlanta, Ga. Nieces and nephews from Mass and NH, all of whom she adored.
Funeral services and internment will be held Saturday November 19th 2:00pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St. Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in the Haywood Duke Room.
Her passion for the past decade was feeding the homeless, provide a resource center, most important was to find a space for homeless children. Donations can be made to the YWCA- Greensboro c/o Lindy Garrett,1807 E Wendover Rd. Greensboro, NC 27405 for a future space to be known as “LoLo's Place.”
