Louis L Glascock, Jr. (Luke), 86, died on July 17, 2024. He was a fourth generation native of Greensboro. He was born in Sternberger Hospital on December 2, 1937 and was the only son of Lola Michaux Glascock and Louis L. Glascock.
Luke attended Aycock School, and Greensboro Senior High, class of 1956. At Greensboro Senior he received all-state honors in football and track. He was selected to play in the Shrine Bowl and NC/SC – All Star football games. Luke attended UNC-Chapel Hill and graduated from University of Georgia. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He also was a track stand-out in the Atlantic Coast and Southeast Conferences.
After college Luke joined the US Marine Corps and served 6 years in the Marine Corp Reserve. He deeply respected and prayed daily, for our service men and women, and our first responders.
After his service, he joined his father as Vice President, and later President of Glascock Distributing Company. He worked in that industry for many years. He was Director of Sales of Metro Travel, Inc. , prior to retirement.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, he was a former Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He served as assistant treasurer for many years. He continued to attend the Marine Corp League #260 meetings until recently.
Luke is survived by his wife of 60 years, Weezie Norwood Glascock , from Monroe, who he met while she was attending WCUNC (UNC-G). Also surviving are his daughters: Marty Watts and her husband Jimmy, of Lynchburg, VA, and Ginny Mabry and her husband, Rhett, of Davidson, NC; 6 grandchildren: Liddy and her husband Carter of Lynchburg, VA, Jimmy Watts V of Charlotte, NC, Maggy Watts of San Francisco, CA, Williamson Watts of Lynchburg, VA, Luke Mabry of Dallas, TX and Rhett Mabry of Durham, NC. He is also survived by a great granddaughter, Kate Nelligan of Lynchburg, Va., and his sister, Gail Glascock Kemm of Conway S.C. and her son Edward and his wife Kathy of Baltimore, MD.
Known for his easy going way and quick smile, Luke had many friends and loved reminiscing about “old Greensboro”. His European travels with his wife and group of life-long friends were favorite times, as were Saturday football games in Chapel Hill with his girls. He loved the NC beaches and any occasion with his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, on August 5th at 11AM. Following the service the family well greet friends at the church.
