She was born June 26, 1932, in Galax, Virginia, the daughter of Elmer and Emma Burnette.
Lucille married Hosea McCoy in 1954, moved from Galax, Va to Greensboro, NC where she and Hosea raised their three children. She was employed with Western Electric in Greensboro and retired from AT&T in Winston Salem, NC.
Lucille was diagnosed with Dementia in 2007. The disease gradually took away her independence and she was unable to live alone. In 2013, she moved in with her son and daughter-in-law until July 2019. At this time, we were forced to make the decision to have her moved to a nursing home facility. It became evident that she needed 24-hour care. There are no words to express the love she had for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille was an inspiration to her family and her many friends that were a special part in her memories created over the years.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hosea McCoy; daughter, Pamela McCoy; sisters, Frieda Burnette, Earlene Dotson; brothers, Dean Burnette, Gene Burnette, Duard Burnette, Willard Burnette.
She is survived by her son, Charles McCoy (Kathy), daughter, Patricia Hoover (Joe). Grandchildren; Brittany Martin (Honda), Jordan Hoover (Jessica), Kacey Weis (Daniel), Brad McCoy (Cody), Dalton Whitesell. Great-grandchildren; McCoy Hoover, Max Hoover, Julian Hoover, Daxton Martin, Reed McCoy.
