

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend John Hartman. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Receiving of friends will be held at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Martin was born in Greensboro, the daughter of Clyde Crocker and Ada Bailey Bergman. She was employed by Western Union for 20 years, traveling North Carolina and Virginia. Before her marriage to Lewis Owen Martin and moving to Richmond, VA and Houston TX; Margaret was an avid bowler, competing in regional and national tournaments. Bowling in the Women’s Greensboro city tournament, she was Singles champion three out of the four years consecutively.
Upon their return to Greensboro, Margaret was employed by H.M. Kern Corp and Gingerich Homes, Inc. She was a founding member of the SPCA of the Triad, Inc. and Treasurer for several years. She was a faithful member of Florida Street Baptist Church, being Leader of Adult III class and served on several committees. Recently she had been attending Fellowship Presbyterian Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Owen Martin; brother, Clyde Bergman and sisters, Ida “Chic” Holbrook and Joan Harris.
Left to cherish her memory are step-daughter, Carol Wilson and husband Jack of Sebastian, FL; a very special nephew, David Harris of Greensboro; several nieces and a dear friend, Brenda Overman.
