Margaret was born in Orange County to the late Percy Carlton and Mable Frances Tuck. Margaret and her twin brother, James, were born prematurely. As a result, Margaret developed Cerebral Palsy, and James died shortly after. She overcame the obstacles from this disability and graduated high school and became a candy striper as a teenager. This led to her working at Bell House shortly after moving to Guilford county in 1975 after she was married. There she helped care for patients with Cerebral Palsy as well. Most of her life was spent being a homemaker caring for her two daughters.
Margaret loved Christmas, cross-stitching, reading, plants and Elvis but most of all she loved her grandchildren. She would try to make Christmas extra special for children, she was a child at heart herself. Margaret cared for several children over the years that remained in her heart until the end. Margaret enjoyed eating fried oysters from Libby Hills Seafood and her guilty pleasure was coffee M&M’s. Margaret was known for her smile, giggle and her beautiful penmanship. Her favorite color was purple. Margaret loved her pet parakeets over the years, all named Easter.
Margaret moved to Twin Lakes from Edgewood Place in Burlington and her family deeply appreciates the love and care she received at both communities. Margaret developed many friendships while at both places, from residents and staff. She loved going to church service and the auctions.
Margaret is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Julia and Alfred Dillard of Gibsonville and Rhonda and Jeff Cloud of Greensboro; grandchildren, Alissa-Colette Davis Cloud of Gibsonville, Brianna Nicole Cloud of Burlington, Brandon Cloud of Greensboro and Alec Connor Dillard of Gibsonville; as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Steve Jones of Apex. Margaret was blessed to have many loving extended family members from the Davis Family, including sisters in-law and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, mother in-law Julia Cockman, her twin brother, James Tuck and her infant son, William Cobey Davis.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Greensboro Cerebral Palsy Association, 3205 Wendover Ave E, Greensboro NC 27405.
