Born on September 28, 1940, to the late Walter Filmore Hester, Sr. and Rebecca Crowder Hester, Margaret grew up in High Point, NC. She attended High Point College graduating with a degree in early education. It was at High Point College where she met her late husband, George.
Margaret loved traveling, laughing, reading, walking on the beach searching for shells, and floating in the ocean water. She and George took every opportunity to travel and experience the world and spent years of their lives living in Europe and many beautiful spots in the US. She also passed these passions onto her children by taking them to many different places that included sailing, mountains, ski trips and beaches. She had a great love for her four grandchildren and one great-grandson. She found great joy, fun and laughter with each of them during every visit.
Margaret spent her career as a beloved elementary school teacher, teaching in various places in the US and Europe as George served in the military for more than 30 years. She loved teaching and was such a blessing to her students, many of whom reconnected later in life on social media, often leaving notes of how much she impacted their lives and remained their “favorite teacher” - including a NY state former teacher of the year who references Margaret for inspiring herself to teach.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, George Earl Wigglesworth II, her daughter Susan Wigglesworth Wood, her five brothers, Walter F. Hester Jr., Robert Hester, Dr. Joseph Hester, Jerry Hester, and James Scott Hester and her parents.
She is survived by her son George Earl Wigglesworth III, her daughter Rebecca Wigglesworth Halsey (Michael), grandson Kevin Crooker (Casey) of Greensboro, granddaughters Caroline Wood and Molly Wood of Chapel Hill, granddaughter Kellan Halsey of Greensboro, great-grandson Charlie Crooker, and her sister Becky (Hester) Wyatt of Winston-Salem, NC.
