Marie H. Dabbs

Marie Hawkins Dabbs went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2016 at her home where she wanted to be. She was born on January 5, 1929, the daughter of Myrtle and Wesley Hawkins in Danville, VA. She fought a long battle with cancer. She was living in Madison, NC with her daughter, Carolyn Spencer and granddaughter, Angie Neal.

She worked many years at Bi Rite Supermarket and Louise’s Hallmark. She loved her family so much. She loved to cook and enjoyed the family gatherings at her home. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she loved teaching Sunday school.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Robert “Gene” Dabbs; son Randy Finney; daughter, Tammy Turner Blair; grandsons, Richie Snouffer, Mark Gerringer; sister, Nancy Ramey and special sister-in-law, Shirley Jefferson Hawkins.

Surviving are daughters; Donna Snouffer(Rick) of Greensboro, NC, Clara Fox of Roxboro, NC, Rhonda Brown (Terry) of Reidsville, NC; son, Kenneth Finney (Pam) of Gibsonville, NC, Bruce Turner of Greensboro, NC; brothers; Darrell Hawkins (Teresia) of Danville, VA, Wesley Hawkins of Danville, VA and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Greensboro, a special nurse Carlos Walden who she loved dearly; Debbie Garner, Social Worker and Chaplain Hillary Irusta.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, 3:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Russ Reeves officiating. Entombment will follow in the Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
