

Marie Brice Singleton, 91, a resident of Aston Place Health and Rehab Center in McLeansville and a former resident of Garner died Friday January 16, 2015. Mrs. Singleton was born February 5, 1923 in the community of Watha in Pender County, the daughter of Roscoe Preston Brice and Annie Irene Newton Brice.
Marie last worked as a school cafeteria manager in Garner. She served her country during WW II as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
She was married to James Franklin Singleton, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Brice Singleton.
Marie is survived by three daughters, Sarah Anne Mazzei and her husband, Walter Robert Mazzei, Sr. of Prosperity, SC, Jan Marie Morris and her husband Calvin Wayne Morris of Selma, Nancy Ellen Hobbs and her husband Graham Kerr Hobbs, III of Charlotte; one son, James Franklin Singleton, Jr. of Cary; three sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Crowder of Garner, Annie Catherine Flake of Raleigh, Lucille Newton Haley of Dallas, TX; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of friends and family of Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
