Ms. Walton, or “Muffin” as she was affectionately known, retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co. in 1983 after forty years of service to the company. She was active in the Southern Bell Pioneers and was a member of Chapter 141, Guilford County, Order of the Eastern Star.
Marie is survived by her only son, Perry Walton of Las Vegas; stepson, Thomas Walton of Greensboro; sister, Barbara Dunnagan and brother, Lyndon Woods, both of Greensboro. Marie had two grandchildren, Christina Walton and Clarke Walton, both of Las Vegas.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, 12:00 noon at Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
