

Mark Meyer Drennen, 68, of Elon, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 3, 1955 to the late William Thomas Drennen and Joy Goodwin Drennen.
Family will receive friends and loved ones from 2:00 until 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407, to share stories and celebrate Mark's amazing life.
Mark was of the Methodist faith and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Following graduation, he went to work for Household Finance Corporation, in both North Carolina and South Carolina until his retirement at the age of 50. After retiring, Mark worked part-time at May Memorial Library for several years because of his love of books. He even had four fiction books published under a pen name. In earlier years, he lived in Greensboro and attended Sedgefield Baptist Church where he served as Church Treasurer and sang in the choir. Mark loved all kinds of sports and in his youth, he played basketball, tennis and golf. In later years he spent a lot of time playing golf and was a member of the Country Hills Men’s Association in Burlington. Mark also enjoyed traveling, reading, writing books and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Matthew Lee Drennen and Travis Lee Drennen.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Teresa Ann Drennen; daughter, Melanie Drennen Winstead (Justin); son, Alexander Ross Drennen; sister, Karen Drennen Chiles (John); niece, Haley Chiles; and other extended family and friends.
