Fred Marshall Quate, Sr. 75, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Thursday evening January 30, 2020 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. He was born in Guilford County the son of Thomas Theodore and Myrtle Reed Alberty Quate.
Marshall farmed all of his life in tobacco. For 23 years he served as a volunteer firefighter for the old Guilford College Fire Dept. Around the station house he was called by the nickname “Tater” his fellow firefighters gave him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Albert Quate, Dickie Quate and Clyde Quate.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Eula Faye Collie Quate of the home; his son, Fred Marshall “Mark” Quate, Jr. and his wife Traci of Summerfield; his sister, Jeanette Quate of Greensboro; his brother, Jimmy Quate of Greensboro and his grandson, Tyler Quate of Jackson, OH.
The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held at Guilford Memorial Park.
