Martha Knight Johnson

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at New Garden Friends Meeting Cemetery on New Garden Road, in Greensboro, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Larry Andrews, officiating.

Born on August 15, 1943, in Guilford County, to the late Edgar Wyatt Knight and Sara Ann McNairy Knight, Martha attended and graduated from Guilford High School in 1961. She attended New Garden Friends meeting and retired from VF Corporation after over 20 years of employment. She was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening and got a lot of satisfaction from the fruits of her labor. Martha loved horses and embraced the fact that she was a good old country girl. She never went far without her loving and faithful canine companion, Kona. Martha was completely heartbroken after Kona’s passing back in April. In addition to her parents and her chocolate lab, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jimmy and her sister, Sally Knight House. Martha was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Eddie W. Knight (Gwen) and their children, Kerri Shirley, Bryan Knight, and Amy Knight; nephew, Allen Kimbro (Jennifer), and their children, Kyle Kimbro and Spencer Kimbro; along with other extended family and friends.
