Martha Maguire Bonkemeyer Redding

Mrs. Martha Maguire Bonkemeyer Redding, 96, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Mrs. Redding was born February 20, 1915, in Elkin, NC to Samuel Oscar Maguire and Rebecca Emaline Bray Maguire. Mrs. Redding was the oldest member of South Elm Street Baptist Church.

She retired from the offices of Dr. James Bruce and Dr. Norman Garrett. She lived for her grandsons and great granddaughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard W. Bonkemeyer in 1958 and husband Robert F. Redding in 1980; sisters, Mary Harris and Ann Hoffman and brother, Sam Maguire . Survivors include; daughter, Rebecca Bonkemeyer Smith and husband Richard of Greensboro, NC; grandsons, Kerry Smith and wife Donna and their daughters, Hannah and Renee of Charlotte, NC and grandson, Jeffrey Smith of Greensboro, NC; brother, Hunter Maguire of Hillsborough, NC and loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Friday, 10:30 am at South Elm Street Baptist Church with Dr. Lawrence Clapp and Rev. Mike Collins officiating. Burial will be in Elkin, NC at the Hollywood Cemetery at 3:00 pm on Friday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to South Elm Street Baptist Church, 4212 S. Elm-Eugene St., Greensboro, NC 27406.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
