Martha was born on November 1, 1939, in Oxford, North Carolina, to Dr. Rives Taylor and Patty Taylor. She grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School before attending Saint Mary's College in Raleigh. After graduating from Saint Mary's, she lived and worked in Richmond, Virginia, before marrying Neil Yeargin in June 1962.
Together, Martha and Neil built a wonderful life, living in North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, and Ireland before making Greensboro their permanent home. Martha was a devoted wife, a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends. She also loved visiting the beach, playing cards, working puzzles, and reading. Her warmth, kindness, and love of family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Martha is survived by her children: Neil Yeargin, Jr. (Justine), Anna R. Ruth (James), and Doug Appleyard (Jennifer). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Shea Yeargin (Zeke), Liam Yeargin, Keely Yeargin, Michael Ruth (Madison), Thomas Ruth (Danielle), Will Appleyard (Brittany), and Sarah Appleyard; and by her first great-grandchild, Reese Ruth.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Neil Yeargin, Sr.; her daughter, Taylor Appleyard; and her brothers, Rives Taylor, Jr. and Dr. Richard Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 North Greene Street, Greensboro, North Carolina.
