Born on May 6, 1941 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Francis Robert Freeman and Mary Margaret Macgilvary Freeman. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was a school bus drive for Our Lady of Grace Catholic School for 15 years. Mary also enjoyed the beach and visiting her hometown of Boston.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Donald Butts; sister, Eileen Hanson; and brothers, Billy Freeman and Richard Freeman.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Diane Butts and her brothers, Francis Freeman and Michael Freeman.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home with a rosary prayer service beginning at 6 pm and a reception during visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2203 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27403.
