Maxine Sowers Hiatt

Mable Maxine Sowers Hiatt, 88, a resident of High Point passed away on Sunday July 10, 2016 in the Hospice Home at High Point. Maxine was born February 2, 1928 in Thomasville, the daughter of John Alexander Sowers and Maude Burton Sowers.

Maxine was a graduate of Fair Grove High School and was employed with Sechrest Funeral Service where she was the office manager for 20 years before retiring.

She was married to Howard Odell Hiatt who preceded her in death on August 20, 1992. Maxine was also preceded in death by her son, H.O. Hiatt; her parents; one sister, Hazel Shoe Lassiter and her brothers, Charles, Jerry, Billy, Ted and Michael Sowers.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Vicki Lynn Hiatt of the home; two sisters, Sylvia S. Shaw of Thomasville, Martha S. Flippin and husband Elbert of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Jason Hiatt and Sarah Hiatt and two great grandchildren, Chase and Ehren Huebner.

Graveside services for Maxine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jeff Johnson.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorials in Maxine’s memory be directed to the Hospice Home at High Point 1803 Westchester Dr. 1803 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
