Wayne is survived by his wife Guylene Carver; five children: Nikki Dishman (Drew), Michael Carver (Heather), Kristen Carver (Michael), Emily Jones (Brian), J.R. Veitch; six grandchildren: Matthew (Maricia), Carter (Colt), Abbi, Hailey, Lindsay, and Scarlett; his mother Laverne Taylor; and sister Janice Kirkman, as well as his nieces and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Luke and brother Donny.
Wayne graduated from Southeast Guilford High School in 1972 and from Guilford Tech with a degree in commercial art. He was an avid painter and talented guitarist.
