Mr. Michael Peter Gentile, 96, a resident of High Point passed away Friday morning May 9, 2014 at High Point Regional Hospital. Mr. Gentile was born December 8, 1917 in Worcester, MA, the son of Pietro and Philomena Mantino Gentile.
In 1939, he was married to Michelina “Mikki” Murgo Gentile. They lived in Worcester, MA until 1974 when, he and his wife retired to Orlando, FL where they spent many years visiting “the happiest place on earth”, Disney World. In 1997, He and Mikki moved to North Carolina where his son, Peter resides.
Michael was a retired District Manager in the Insurance Industry. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and the Korean War.
Michael was preceded in death on February 20, 2013 by his wife of seventy three years, Michelina “Mikki” Murgo Gentile. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph A. Gentile and his two sisters, Catherine G. Pasguerella and Adeline Gentile.
He is survived by his son, Peter and his wife Donna of Greensboro; two grandsons, Nick Gentile and his wife Dawn of Ashburn, VA, Brian Gentile and his wife Drea of Wake Forest, NC; five great grandchildren, Jackson, Holland, Ty, Merritt and Caroline and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday May 23, 2014 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home North Elm Chapel, 515 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401. Following the visitation a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor Anthony Marcaccio at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401 with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
