Michael Alec Godfrey

A gathering of friends and loved ones to celebrate Michael's life will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel, 515 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401.

Born in Albemarle, North Carolina, on June 23, 1958, to the late James Heath Godfrey and Edna Edmundson, Michael dedicated 33 years of his career to Graybar Electric, where he served as an Account Manager.

Michael found joy in life’s simple pleasures, from golfing with friends and participating in the annual Budweiser-Heineken Open (BHO) to enjoying a good cigar on the porch. He treasured time spent at the family cabin in Hot Springs, North Carolina, where he embraced the peace and beauty of mountain life. Michael was known for his incredible taste in music and collected thousands of CDs and records over his lifetime. Michael was a loving and devoted father, husband, brother, and friend who cherished time with his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Heath Godfrey, and his sister, Ellen Forward.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kristine; his daughter, Kaitlyn; his son, Spencer; and his three beloved rescue dogs, Eleanor, Millie, and Margo. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
