

Muriel Camilla Bennett, lovingly known as “MC” to close friends, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She kept a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone who crossed her path. Even when her prognosis was grim, Muriel’s fighting spirit shone through. Muriel spread love and light to everyone. Her acts of kindness, infectious laughter and positive energy will be carried in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
A Diva is Born
Muriel was born on Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico January 17, 1979. She began her primary education at Upper Heyford Elementary in Oxfordshire, England. She attended middle school at Greenwood and high school at Eastern Wayne, both in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was a part of the graduating class of 1997.
Muriel’s formal education started at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where she earned her associate degree in Fashion Design in 2000. She attended Wayne Community College, also earning her associate’s degree in business administration and management in 2004. She completed her formal education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design in 2008.
Her Life
Muriel’s creativity knew no bounds, and from as young as 3 years old, she drew. She excelled in home décor and had the ability to turn a simple flower arrangement into a masterpiece. Her creativity was evident in her eclectic food variety, her makeup artistry, and adventuring and traveling. She was always willing to help family and friends plan their special events and made every occasion magical. She enjoyed beauty and making others feel beautiful and celebrated.
Her Family - Her Strength
With her heart and mind never far from home, Muriel returned to focus her education, talents, and leadership in the Bennett’s locally known family business: Diva's Beauty Supply. Under her management, the family business flourished for 15 years. It was there she gifted many patrons with her time, knowledge, and dedication to making them feel valued.
She Will Be Missed
Muriel leaves to cherish a loving and devoted family: her parents - George and Yong Sun Bennett of Brown Summitt, NC; her brothers - Basil (Sophia) Bennett of Las Vegas, Nevada and Darren Bennett of Brown Summitt, NC. Muriel leaves behind aunts, uncles, a host of cousins, friends and sister-friends.
Her Legacy
Muriel Camilla Bennett illuminated light and love! Many of us were blessed to feel the warmth of her glow and positive energy. In her quiet moments she was understood, and in her joyous moments she always did things on a Diva’s status. She unapologetically lived life unselfishly, creatively, and with class. Muriel leaves us with the definition of living life with grace, strength, and beauty.
A visitation for Muriel will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, North Carolina 27401, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
