OBITUARY

Nancy J. Colt

August 15, 1961February 3, 2020

Nancy Johnson Colt, 58, of Clarksville, TN passed away February 3, 2020 in Greensboro, NC surrounded by her family.

Nancy was born August 15, 1961 in Clarkville, TN, the daughter of Sam and Millie Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, MG (Ret) Jeffrey Colt; J. Hunter and Christina Colt and granddaughter Sophia Colt of Henrico, VA; and 1LT Samuel Colt presently serving in Vicenza, Italy.

Nancy was described by many as a kind, compassionate and selfless servant. She loved supporting her loving husband and sons. Nancy had a passion and took great pride serving Army families and their service communities, while moving her family 25 times. She embraced her responsibilities and, more so, the opportunity to serve those who were serving their country.

An Arlington National Cemetery interment is being planned for the Fall. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the USO or NightStalker Foundation.

Dear Family,
I have had the pleasure to meet and enjoyed getting to know Nancy through Water Fitness classes at the YMCA. She has shared wonderful stories of her loving husband, wonderful sons, her trip to Italy, kitchen remodeling and the birth of her most admired granddaughter. Myself and those who met her in class are really missing her and her wonderful personality. She really expressed a warm and loving heart. Our condolences to her family.

To the Colt Family,

Our condolences and prayers on the passing of Nancy. She was an incredible lady, role model, passionate supporter of the Soldiers and Families she was around, and a friend to those she knew. From the first time I met Nancy as a Captain serving under Jeff in the “Six Guns”, Nancy treated us all like family. I have fond memories of her caring and supporting nature, including inviting me to their Thanksgiving family dinner. Her energy and empathy for others set a great example and her strength and resiliency was inspiring. Even recently at a friend’s military retirement event, it was great catching up with her and she glowed as she shared her great love and praise for Hunter, Sam, Jeff and the extended family. Her love for her own family and those she had served with remained as strong as the day I met her. The news of her passing was tough for us not in the immediate family - but the great memories of her and her values provides comfort to have shared time with her while she devoted herself to her immediate and extended Army family.

Jeff, Hunter, Sam and the extended family – our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Speed during this difficult time. SGDM! NSDQ! LNSDQ! Al & Heather

Jeff.
Greg and I are so deeply sorry for this stunning loss. Although we never were in the same unit, I got to know Nancy through Celia and various 101st organizations. I always admired her devotion to the families of the service members. I believe she loved being an Army wife more than anyone I ever met and she made everyone’s life she touched so much better. She leaves an empty space that will never be filled, but Nancy will never be forgotten or remembered without a smile.
We are so thankful to know she is resting in the arms of Christ,
Val and Greg

Jeff, Hunter, and Sam,
I am truly heartbroken to hear of Nancy’s passing. She was such a phenomenal woman. My mentor and friend, she helped me through “housing yuck”, sat beside me supporting the soccer team, too many book fairs to mention, spouses club activities and just Army life, in general. The sun is a bit dimmer. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers...

We are so sorry for your loss. One of my favorite memories of Nancy was her in my sitting area at Fort Hood with wives sitting all round her as she was telling story after story. Her love for you Jeff and the boys and for life was always so evident. She will be missed. Praying for your family.
