Neal is preceded in death by his father William Rothermel. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Rothermel, of Greensboro, NC; his brother Bill Rothermel, of Jamestown, NC; his sister, Cathy Rothermel, of Greensboro, NC; his nephews, a niece, and a great niece.
Neal graduated in 1981 with a B.S degree from Western Carolina University. He was employed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue for 30 years.
In his leisure time he enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, golfing, and antiquing. He was also an avid reader and sports enthusiast.
