Norene "Noni" Marie (Hoehn) Martin

Norene Marie Hoehn Martin of Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023. “Noni” was born in Princeton, Minnesota, on April 30, 1937, to Mary Esther Normandin and Fred Hoehn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund, grandson Michael J., daughter-in-law Bonnie, and 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Teboe, and three sons, Patrick (Stephanie), Michael, and John (Anne) as well as four grandchildren Erika, Lindsay, Craig, and Sarah.

Noni grew up in Princeton enjoying family time at Spectacle Lake and was very proud to be one of the early Girl Scouts. She attended the University of Minnesota, where she met and married the love of her life, Ed, in 1958. With their three sons, the family moved with IBM to Raleigh, NC in 1965. In Raleigh, Noni was active with Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Raphael’s Catholic churches and served as a Cub Scout den mother. The family enjoyed many happy days at Atlantic Beach, NC. In 1984, Noni and Ed moved again to Delray Beach, Florida, and a new chapter began. Friendships formed as Noni worked first as a travel agent and then later as an office manager for an interior designer and enjoyed traveling, practicing yoga, attending the theater, and working in the church gift shop. She moved to Greensboro in 2019 to be closer to her sons.

Noni was one of 10 children and Ed was one of 8. She added many friendships to that family over the years. She made a priority of keeping in touch as was evident by her long Christmas card list, many trips to Minnesota, and frequent phone calls. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

A funeral mass with interment is planned for October 27, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh, NC at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
