Opal Hudgins Cartledge

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, November 4, 2011, at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Michael Barrett officiating.

Mrs. Cartledge was the daughter of the late Albert and Mafrey Hudgins, born on March 27, 1934. She was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, where she worked as a part-time Secretary. For many years, Opal worked as a Personnel Manager for Sears and Roebuck. When she moved to Union, SC, she went to work for John Wolfe, from where she retired. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed nothing more than attending all her grandsons sporting events. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; her infant son, Jeffrey Craig Cartledge; and three brothers, James, Edgar, and Arnold Hudgins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Childress (Ron) of Greensboro; grandsons, Christopher and Hunter Childress; brothers, Gary Hudgins (Irene) of Greensboro and Doug Hudgins (Margaret) of Summerfield; and sister-in-law Connie Hudgins of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Thursday evening at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel and other times at the home of her sister-in-law, Connie Hudgins.
