Parks Henry Roberts Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, on High Point Rd., in Greensboro. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born January 16, 1925, in Greensboro, to the late Henry and Alta Roberts, Mr. Roberts, was a member of Presbyterian Church of The Covenant. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy and then enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserves. Parks retired from Southern Bell after 38 years of employment. In earlier years he loved to skate, which ironically is how he met his adoring wife.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Ruth Hines Roberts; son, Parks H. Roberts, Jr. and his wife Neil of Wilmington; daughters, Trudy Lynne Wilburn and her husband Rev. Ricky H. Wilburn of Memphis; and Cathy R. Hoover and her husband, Jason of Greensboro; grandchildren, Leigh Roberts, Davis, Caroline, and Mary Catherine Hoover.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Saturday afternoon, one hour prior to the funeral service.
