On March 17, 2013 God said to come home, "I need you to sing in the Heavenly Choir." He died at his home in Pleasant Garden with his caretaker wife, Velma Harmon King, of 46 years by his side

A celebration of Paul's life will be at 2:00 PM at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Funeral Home and the family will gather with friends at 1:00 PM prior to the service Wednesday.

Paul Moore King, 93, was born February 4, 1920 in Guilford county the 2nd son of 10 children to George Lee King, Sr. and Vera Chrismon King. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Roland, George Jr, James, Melvin, Ralph, Merle, Fred; and sisters, Frances Sykes and Mattie Whitesell.

Survivors, other than his wife is his sister Ruth Nicholson. Others left behind with many special memories of their own are Daryl (Glenda), Ronald (Ginny), Randy who called him "Daddy" and Don (Yvette) who called him "Dad". Grandchildren and great grandchildren called him "PaPa" or "Gam-pa"

Paul was educated in Guilford County and graduated from Altamaha High School and then attended Elon College. He was drafted into the Army during WWII and upon his return he began his career in textiles where he retired after 27 years with Kayser-Roth.

He will be remembered by his beautiful singing voice during weddings and Church music.

Paul and Velma's life together has been filled with music ever since they first met singing in the choir at the First Baptist Church of Elon. It would be a blessing to Velma and a fitting celebration of Paul's life if memorial gifts are donated to the First Baptist Church of Elon Music Fund, PO Box 778, Elon, NC 27244

I worked with Paul for years at Burlington Industries, J. Spencer Love Center, then Kayser-Roth Corporation in Greensboro. Paul was a very fine employee and a fine man. He was a good friend and we really had some fun times working together. I have thought of him often, but have not seen him since I left Kayser-Roth. Velma, he was such a good person and I know he will be missed by all. I hope your family is doing well.
