Paul Michael Sappenfield was a devoted father of two sons, loving and supportive husband, indulgent fun loving grandfather and trustworthy friend. He had a heart for others and always managed to find positivity in every situation. His family said goodbye to him on September 9, 2021 when he died at the age of 68.
Mike was born in Floyd County, Indiana and employed as a machinist with Lorillard Tobacco. He married the love of his life Robin Emery in 1983. In 1985, they relocated to Greensboro with his job. Mike was an avid Indiana basketball fan and the king of “one liners”.
He is survived by his wife Robin E. Sappenfield of the home; sons and their wives, Adam and Ashley Sappenfield and Kyle and Tara Sappenfield; grandchildren, Adalyn and Callie Sappenfield; brothers, Robert, Ronnie, David, Kenny and Sam Sappenfield and John Barnett; sister, Wanda Barnett; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his immediate family, Mike was a father figure to countless others who cherish his memory. His parents, Glenn “Butch” and Bonnie Barnett, brothers, John and Larry Jo Sappenfield and sister, Naomi “Gayle” Sappenfield preceded him in death.
Friends are invited to share memories of Mike during a gathering on September 14, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel.
