

Mr. Peter Daniel Poteat, 73, a resident of Jamestown passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday May 7, 2015. Mr. Poteat was born October 6, 1941 in Kannapolis, NC the son of the late Paul James and Gladys Tysinger Poteat.
He was a graduate of High Point High School, attended NC State University, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He worked with the Pilot Life Insurance Co. and continued with Jefferson Pilot until his retirement after 37 years of service. Both an ardent animal lover and routine blood donor, his consideration and compassion for life and all things living was one of his most prominent attributes. He was a devoted, respected, and cherished husband, father, colleague, teammate, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife and world, Mary Arsenault Poteat. Surviving is their son, Sean Poteat of Greensboro.
There will be a Gathering of Friends on Saturday May 16, 2015 from the hours of 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Please come dressed causal as we share with each other those special stories of "Pete" or "Danny" as he was known by many.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made in Mr. Poteat's memory to the A.S.P.C.A. (Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
