Phyllis Jean Ward, age 77, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. She was born on September 25, 1948, in Guilford County, NC, daughter of the late Hobert and Virginia Mounce May. Phyllis was a 1966 graduate of Page High School in Greensboro, NC, she loved traveling to Maine with her husband, planting flowers in her garden, going to the beach and shopping at her favorite stores: Marshalls, Dillards and T.J. Maxx.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister.
She is survived by her loving husband Merle Ward, son Craig Ward (Patricia), grandson Nathan Ward (Ilyssa), one great grandson Garrett Ward, best friends Carolyn, Penny, Rosene, Abby and Emma.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm, Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
