Rev. R.A. Pegram, of Greensboro, passed away on Sunday, August 26, at Beacon Place. R.A. was born on June 17, 1931, in Greensboro. R.A. was a graduate of Grimsley High School, Pilgrim Bible College, Elon College, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, the University of Wisconsin—Platteville and did doctoral studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. R.A. pastored in the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church for about 40 years.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at West Market Street United Methodist Church, 302 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC. Commital Service will be 3:30 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church, NC Highway 150 E., Brown Summit.
R.A. was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances (Welborn), his parents Hersey and Flossie Self Pegram, two sisters, Notra Heaps and Laura Elmore Pegram.
R.A. is survived by his wife, Melba, whom he married in 1998 and was blessed with 14 years of mutual adoration; children, Byron (Jill) Pegram, Rom (Jane) Pegram, Joy (Ed) Kern, Gay (Robert) Phillip, and Stan (Sarah) Pegram, Mark Warren and Cliff (Dana) Warren; sister, Barbara Pegram Marlow, 15 grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends in the Gathering Space at the church following the service.
