Reedy Marie Gilliland

Dorothy Marie “Reedy” Kennedy Hammonds Gilliland, 51, a resident of Whitsett died Wednesday morning September 12, 2012 at the Hospice House of Burlington. Reedy was born September 10, 1961 in Guilford County, the daughter of Raymond Eugene Kennedy, Sr. and Peggy Irene Jones Kennedy. She was a graduate of Western Guilford High School Class of 1979 and was employed with Qualicaps in Whitsett until her health began to decline.

She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Marie Hammonds of Greensboro; two sons, Michael Duane Hammonds, Jr. with the U.S. Army stationed in Hawaii, Mitchell Dean Hammonds of the home; her mother, Peggy Irene Kennedy Solomon of Greensboro; one sister, Peggy Jeanene Dah Dah of Greensboro and five brothers, Raymond Eugene Kennedy, Jr. of Pelham, James Dean Kennedy and wife Christine of Julian, Terry Lynn Kennedy and wife Jeanne of Whitsett, Rory Irvin Fitzgerald of Greensboro and Barry Allen Solomon and wife Amanda of Colfax.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Michael Barrett and Reverend Marty Tobin. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m
