Dear Lois, I am so sorry about Brady's passing.  My father, George Barkley, my son, Scott, and I were on the trip to Israel and Egypt with you and Brady in 1984 or 1985.  It was one of the highlights of our lives, and although I'm not sure about the date, I well remember you and Brady and all you did to make the trip so memorable. Pastor Faggart selected me to serve and work as a CIT at Lutheridge my 15th summer; I rode Greyhound from Atlanta to the gate, eager with anticipation and with more than a little fear or concern - it was my first Big Adventure away from home.
Pastor Faggart quickly put me at ease simply by his acceptance of me and his welcome to me as a junior staffer. He set the mood and the pace by Word and example. I remember well his laughter, counsel, and singing at meals, at Vespers, and in that wonderful Chapel.
That summer was the sum of my association with Pastor Faggart, although I briefly visited Lutheridge over a few days in July 1968.
It is an honor to have met, worked with, and be led by Pastor Faggart. It's my loss that I had no opportunity to extend my association with him.
You don't know me; please accept that my prayers go to you, his family and all who know and were touched by him.
My mind and my heart are silently signing "Praise to the Lord Almighty" as I write this.

I am so sad to hear of Pastor Brady passing. He was a very good man. My prayers go out to him and his family.

Brady was one of the most passionate and loving people that I've had the chance to meet.  His love and concern for others will always have an impact on me.  Peace, Love and Comfort to his dear family.

We are very sorry for your loss.  I was a member of First Lutheran Church  from 1957 until around 1980.  Pastor Faggart married me and my husband in 1977.  He was such a kind and loving person.  I know he is dancing with the angels now.

Brady and I became fast friends when this Wisconsin girl came to North Carolina. He encouraged me many times as I began my work at the North Carolina Synod office in Salisbury. He always greeted me with a smile and a hug which he knew I needed. His grasp of God’s word always taught me a new way to look at the world and my community. I haven’t seen Brady for many years but have thought of him many times with a smile on my face and love in my heart. 

I remember him well as also his wife, Lois. Two wonderful people . My prayers for his family.

Brady was the first pastor to welcome me when I came to New Covenant, Archdale in 1990. He became mentor, cheerleader, and spiritual support for me during those early years of my parish ministry. His open acceptance and warm inclusive spirit were a gift to me and so many others. He will be greatly missed. 

Dear Lois and family,
Into our lives come many blessings. Having brief experiences with you and Brady were among those blessings. Driving to Salisbury for Spirituality Committee meetings were also blessed events. Just being able to listen to Brady’s views on faith and Spirituality during those rides is something still recalled and always will be.
We pray that you will feel God’s comfort and peace through a very sad time...

We were fortunate at Community Lutheran in Summerfield to have Pastor Brady as our interim Pastor.  He was such a warm, caring man.  Condolences to his family.  

Our thoughts &; prayers are with all of the family.  We loved Pastor Brady & were so happy he was a part of our life's.

Lois, Laura, and Luther.  My daughter and I have cherished memories of Brady from when we first moved to Greensboro in 1977.    He married Christie and Pete and, sadly, he helped us say goodbye to Ken a few years later in 1991.  Brady was a part of the most important events in our lives and we will miss him.

Dear Lois and family.  It was with deep regret that I heard of Brady's passing. How I have missed you both at First Lutheran.  Brady was the one who brought me to this church. I remember the first visit he paid to me  when I knew I had found my church home. His messages always spoke to me and I have missed you both a great deal in recent years. But, though the times were few, I enjoyed our encounters (yours and mine, Lois)  always in the grocery store :) when we had the opportunity to say hello and talk , albeit briefly. God Bless Brady and God Bless you and your family...which I know He will do.

I guess that l always thought of Brady as our “Jimmy Carter”...as his second life was filled with many years of helping with Habitat builds, Habitat fundraisers and touching the community as a whole.  

He was the post Sam Sox Pastor to my family and l.  He officiated at my first Marriage and his steady guidance was always not just Accepted, but sought after.  Heaven has gained some well spoken persons this year, Brady will still be sought after!  I hope that my second life is half as rich as Brady’s!



When my husband-to-be and I started attending First Lutheran 30 some years ago, we received a welcome call from Pastor Brady. This call followed with a notably nice visit with him. Since that time I had the opportunity to share time and conversations with him. I always liked it when he and Lois helped with Friday morning meals at the homeless shelter on days that I was there.  I also enjoyed it when he popped in to our Sunday School class (the one that incorporated meditation). Then there was a 3 day retreat at the most beautiful location. He was always so kind, gentle, and interested. While I will admit that my heart skipped a beat when I learned of his passing, I am grateful that it was a peaceful transition for him.  He certainly leaves a legacy. 

We only met him briefly, mainly while an interim pastor at Our Father. We found him to be a warm, welcoming man of God. It was always a pleasure  talking with him... He was a fine man and Pastor. 

Mama Lois, Laura, Lois, Luther, Brian, Rachel, Jake, Melanie and Jeff,  There are so many memories of your Dad: his calling me before interviewing at FLC, our double dating with our wives at various functions, walks on the beach, planning together, leading worship together, and his passion for life.  I'll always remember his passion for refugee resettlement, his initiative in getting a cohort of leading churches to meet to foster better racial relations, his writing and then living into the Second Half of Life, his initiative and service at the Friday Morning Breakfast group, and his vision and initiative for the FLC Endowment.  I'll treasure our friendship, his being a lifelong learner and teacher, faithful disciple, husband and father, and his servant leadership. What a dear man. I remember talking with him when our paths would cross at meetings or the hospital or interfaith efforts. I am honored to have known him. Prayers for his family. The first Sunday of Advent became the day when Brady was welcomed into the full presence of Love. 

My heart is full of sadness for your loss. Although knowing Pastor Brady, he left with joy in his heart, and a kiss a farewell to all of us. I was so blessed to get to know him Through Community Lutheran Church, his work with First Lutheran, and his love of the Lord. He touched many hearts, and left us longing for that relationship with our Christ. Prayers and blessings to his family. And thank you for sharing him with us.

Our hearts and prayers go out the the Faggart Family in this time of sorrow. Dad and Mom (Harold & Nancy Skinner )met Brady and Lois at Lenoir Rhyne College, shared housing at the Lutheran Seminary at Chicago and continued a life-long friendship. Dad also passed away this year...the continued passing of an incredible generation...Much Peace...
