She graduated from the University of PA with Bachelor’s degrees in music and German, completed her graduate work at Temple University where she received a Master’s degree in Education. She fully devoted her life to her Savior, Jesus Christ, and began her pastoral calling as the Assistant to the Senior Pastor of The First Congregational Church in Greenwich, CT. Marie was ordained and served as Associate Minister of Visitation at Noroton Presbyterian Church, in Darien, CT, her home church. In 1990 she and her husband, Richard W. Reed moved to NC where she continued her ministry as Pastor of the Yanceyville Presbyterian Church, from which, after ten years, she retired in 2001.
Parishioners who were homebound or hospitalized will remember the many times Marie shared company with them. She was a fun-loving, hands-on mother to Rob and treasured the time they spent together after his school day. Her partner, best friend, and supporter for the past 49 years, has been her loving husband Richard whom she met in the 9th grade. Their son, Rob and his wife, Brigett reside in Latrobe, PA. Grandchildren Jacob, Rachael, Joseph, Robert, Samuel, and Rebecca were cherished by Marie. She was an extremely talented singer, who performed leading roles in musical comedies, solo work for oratorios, concerts and opera.
