A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Lawndale Avenue in Greensboro on Saturday March 23 at 11:00 AM.
Richard was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on August 13, 1924 to Richard and Rose Battle. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII earning five campaign stars. He graduated from the University of California Los Angeles, UCLA, and was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Richard’s hobbies included Ham Radio and flying model airplanes.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell K. Battle. Richard is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Dicky of Austin, Texas, his son, Richard D. Battle of Vero Beach, Florida, stepson, Joe Dorsch of Spring, Texas, Jim Dorsch of Los Gatos, California, Pat Dorsch of Atlanta, Georgia, and stepdaughter, Kassey Dorsch of Rehobeth, Delaware.
