Richard "Rick" E. Watson

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with Rev. James Watford officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park on Hwy 220 in Asheboro. The family will receive friends an hour and a half prior to the funeral service from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Rick was born in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late Elmore and Edna Watson. He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church where he enjoyed worshiping with his brothers in Christ in the Rooks Sunday School Class and loved singing in the church choir. Rick graduated from the University of Florida and was a self-employed Real Estate Agent. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Rick loved all of his family but, his grandchildren held the key to his heart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Betty H. Watson of the home; daughters, Katherine Scott and her husband Jeff of Greensboro and Amber Molesa and her husband Jeff of Kernersville; his mother-in-law, Veda Howell of Asheboro; siblings, Jack Watson and wife Pat, Pauline Smith and husband John, Bob Watson, and Elinor Dunn and husband Tom, all of Florida and Chuck Watson and wife Betty of Greensboro; brother-in-law, Eddie Howell of Lincolnton; and other extended family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the loving end-of-life care provided by Hospice of the Piedmont as they guided Rick on his final journey home. It was a truly blessed experience for all of the family to be in their care.
