Richard Charles Young, 82, died March 13, 2026 at home, surrounded by his loving family, the caregivers from Home Helpers of Greensboro, and AuthoraCare Hospice. He was a devoted and compassionate man who made those around him feel supported and cared for. Richard resided in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Born November 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the son of Charles and Jean Young. He grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and later attended Long Island University, where he earned an MBA. In 1975, he moved his family from Long Island, New York, to Greensboro, North Carolina.
Richard dedicated four years to the Army National Guard. He then built a long and respected career at Lorillard Tobacco Company, serving as a Controller in the Finance department for 36 1/2 years.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Rosemarie D'Angelo Young, for 60 years. He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen M. Young of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer Young Crissman (Harold) of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren Dyllan Brown (Aliyah), Laurel Hawkins (Dalton), Shyanna Brown, and Chance Crissman; and two great-grandchildren, Lawson Hawkins and Raelynn Brown. He is also survived by siblings Robert Young (Josephine) of Long Island, NY, and Loretta Young Mastrocinque (Nicholas) of Delaware, and two Nieces, Nina D'Angelo of New Jersey and Diana D'Angelo of Virginia Beach.
After retiring, Richard pursued a heartfelt goal: to work with abused or neglected farm animals. He started Peace Farm in Summerfield, North Carolina, where he rescued horses, goats, and other neglected animals—an enduring reflection of his gentle spirit and determination to help those in need.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday March 17th from 5pm-7pm at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 12:30pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with entombment following at Westminster Gardens Cemetery
