Mr. Robert “Bob” Isaac Barts, Jr., 68, a resident of Jamestown died suddenly Sunday evening, July 20, 2014. Bob was born January 21, 1946 in Morehead City, the son of Robert Isaac Barts, Sr. and Josephine Motes Barts. He was a graduate of Morehead City High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Germany. After college Bob worked with Burlington Industries for eight years. He then worked with various car dealerships in the area and worked in the home construction industry. At the time of his death, Bob was working with 1-800 Radiator (Good Ole Boys) and also was the owner of Bob Barts Knives; decoy carving knives.
He was an active member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church, serving as a church Elder and a former Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Leary Barts of the home; one daughter, Sara Barts Robinson and husband Les of Burlington; three sisters, Susan B. Gray and husband Ray, Karen B. Bell and husband Paul, Jody Garner all of Morehead City; one brother, Tim Barts and wife Linda of Dunn and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Bob will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jamestown Presbyterian Church conducted by the Reverend Dr. Jay D. Smith and the Reverend D. Newton F. Cowan.
There will be a receiving of friends and reception following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Bob’s memory to the Lane Pleasants Memorial Scholarship, c/o Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 1804 Guilford College Rd., Jamestown, NC 27282 or to Youth for Christ, P.O. Box 516 Greensboro, NC 27402.
