

McLeansville- The Lord called Robert F. Bost, III to his heavenly home, Sunday, June 8, 2014. A funeral Mass will be at 11 AM, Thursday, June 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensboro, NC, followed by entombment at Lakeview Memorial Park. Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 11 AM prior to the service at the church. The family will not be present during this time but will receive friends during a reception at the church following the entombment.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and received his Fire Science degree from GTCC. He was a fire captain with the Greensboro Fire Department and retired after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his soul mate and wife of 44 years, Wanda Souther Bost; mother-in-law, Iris Waynick of McLeansville; sister-in-law, Carol Johnson and husband Willie of Brown Summit; sisters, Beverly Borenstein and husband Elliott of Alpharetta, GA, Barbara Hargett and husband Martin of Climax, Mary Bost of Greensboro and Kathy Lohr of Trinity; uncle, Stewart Hartley of High Point; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Mrs. Mooters. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. Bost Jr. and Ruth Roueche Bost; brother, James Roueche Bost; aunt, Kathryn Hartley; uncle, James Roueche; and niece, Kimberly Johnson Wyrick
Bob had a deep tenderness for animals of all kinds, particularly homeless dogs and he and Wanda opened their home to many animals in need over the years. He was an avid reader, especially of prominent American historical figures. He enjoyed spending time with his uncle, Jim Roueche talking about the Great War and the bygone era of pre-21st century American history. Bob also loved the NY Yankees and was forever rubbing it in to the Philly loving priests at St. Mary’s. He and Wanda shared many wonderful years together traveling, spending time with friends and family, but most of all helping charities with passionate Christian spirit. Bob will be sorely missed as he was a good and kind man, devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, firefighter, and patriot.
In the words of one of Bob’s favorite heroes, Thomas Jefferson, “Whenever you do something, act as if all the world were watching.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 812 Duke St, Greensboro, NC 27401 or to the ASPCA, 3163 Hines Chapel Road Greensboro, NC 27405.
