

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 12:30 pm at First Christian Church. There will be a private graveside service at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Bob was born on December 8, 1929 to the late Robert Anderson Olin Edwards, Sr. “Radio” and Ethel Taylor Edwards in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he played in the Pep Band and the Marching Band. He was a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
Bob was a life member of the National Ski Patrol and served as an instructor for the American Red Cross. He was a member of First Christian Church and sang in the choir. He had a great love of swing era music, and played the trombone for several bands. Bob never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his wit and sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Betty Rogers Edwards. Surviving are his sons, Andy and wife Patsy Edwards and Brad and wife Cathy Edwards both of Summerfield NC; daughter Amy Edwards Harper of Hampstead, NC; grandchildren, Jake Edwards and wife Claire, Brady Edwards, Wesley Edwards, and Taylor Edwards; sister, Janet Marshburn and husband Bob; and sister in-law, Juel Sherwood.
