Robert Galloway Vaughn III

A memorial service, conducted by The Reverend David Partington will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. A private inurnment will take place at Green Hill Cemetery.

Robert was born in Greensboro on February 6, 1930, to Margaret Atwater Vaughn and Robert Galloway Vaughn, Jr. He attended the Devereaux School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Robert worked at Vick Chemical, Guilford Dairy, Dillard Paper, and at First Presbyterian Church, where his great-grandfather, Dr. Jacob Henry Smith, served as pastor for thirty-eight years. At First Presbyterian Robert met many wonderful individuals, whose friendships meant so much to him. He was fortunate to have many thoughtful and attentive friends who enriched his life.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his aunts, Mary Watson Vaughn McAlister, Josephine Vaughn Angle, and Margaret Vaughn Vanstory.

He is survived by another aunt, Cynthia Vaughn Price and six first cousins, John Atwater, John W. McAlister, Mary Watson McAlister Pinson, Margaret (Peggy) McAlister Sealy, C.M. (Neil) Vanstory III, and Peter V. Vanstory.

Robert's family is grateful to his friends for their love and concern for him demonstrated in so many ways and also to Sonya Williamson, Director of the Corporation of Guardianship and to his devoted and longtime caregiver, Maria Ali.
