Robin VanPelt, 51 of High Point, NC died peacefully July 7, 2019 at Moses Cone hospital surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 AM, Monday July 15 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point. Visitation will begin at 10am.
Robin was born August 12, 1967 in Elizabeth, NJ to George and Roberta VanPelt who survive her. Robin graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1985. She graduated from the University of Delaware where she received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. Her love for learning continued when she received her Masters degree in Speech & Language Pathology from Temple University. Robin was employed with Cheshire Speech and Language Center in Greensboro and was passionate about working with young children. She was a bilingual therapist who made time for everyone. You would find her visiting various childcare centers, but mostly her “kids” were found at Head Start in Asheboro.
In her twenties Robin began her battle with various health issues but never complained and showed strength in the face of adversity. She underwent a heart transplant on July 4, 1999 and remained grateful for her amazing gift every day. Robin was born to advocate for children and their education. She had a generous soul who always gave more of herself than asked. She loved her family especially her nieces and nephews. Every year she would look forward to planning their annual trip to Disney. Robin loved to travel and was always planning “the next trip”.
In addition to her parents who reside in Greensboro, she is survived by her sister, Jill (Craig) Gaccione of Asheboro; nieces, Olivia and Julia Gaccione; nephews, David and Dawson Anderson of DE; aunt and uncle, Mary & Ron Kwadecius of New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Robin’s memory may be directed to Camp Kesem, 10586 W. Pico Blvd., #196, Los Angeles, CA 90064.
