The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 2:00 pm, at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home N. Elm Chapel.
It was a dark cold Wednesday night. I feel the Angels stood behind Ray guarding his every breath. Later as his breath began to fade, the Angels hovered above him waiting for him to take his last breath. His family and friends were at his bedside, my hand on his heart, we all prayed together, cried and begged for him to stay. I believe the Angels gently lifted him into the heavenly hands of God at that moment ending his pain.
Ray was loved by so many. He was the most giving and loving man I have ever known. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off of his back if he loved someone.
I feel I was truly blessed in the twenty some years I had him. We shared so much love and happiness some people will never know this kind of love. He was so proud of our family and he lived for everyday that we could all be together. We danced, sang and loved. We were very fortunate to have had him in our lives. Ray was truly the love of my life, best friend, and father to my children.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Lee Cannon Moore; grandparents, Feddy L. Moore, Vivian Moore, Robert R. Willard and Eva Mae Willard.
Survivors include: his loving wife Sherry Lynn Moore; mother, Joann W. Moore; children, Michelle, Johnny, Lisa, Ashley, Christal, Samantha, Michael, Tabitha, Heather and Angel; grandchildren, Robbie, Cody, Wyatt, Alexa, Alison and Autumn; father-in-law, Fred McNeely and mother-in-law, Ruth McNeely; brothers and sisters: Ken Moore (Debby), James Moore (Kathy), Darlene Davis (Herman), Gary Moore (Alicia) and Teresa Smith (Danny).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
The family would like to take this chance to thank the many friends that have been by our side through this journey, especially the Moses Cone Operating Room family who made it possible for us to spend those last precious moments together as a family.
We love you Ray and you will always be in our hearts.
