

Romana was born on June 2, 1933, in Rome, Italy, daughter of the late Francesco DiDemetrio and Rosa Gentile. On January 31, 1955, she and Serafino Serpe, of San Fili, Italy, were married in Rome. They then immigrated to the United States later that same year, initially settling in Port Chester, New York. After years of hard work and dedicated savings, they built a home at 12 Elmbrook Drive, in Stamford, Connecticut. For 35 years, she worked as a circuit board assembler, first at Stelma Corporation and later at CBS Laboratories, both located in Stamford. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, to live alongside her son Eugene and her daughter-in-law Mary, and their three beautiful children. She would remain in Greensboro until her death.
In addition to her parents, Romana was preceded in death by her husband, Serafino, and her brothers, Leonardo, Ugo, and Virgilio. She is survived by her sons, Eugene Serpe and his wife Mary, of Greensboro, NC, Franco Serpe and his wife Stella, of Stamford, CT, and Alessandro (Alex) Serpe, of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Michelle Katz and her husband Doug, of Stamford, CT, and Adrian, Julian, and Alessandra Serpe, all of Greensboro, NC; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Emma Katz, of Stamford, CT; and sisters, Franca, Sandra, and Giusi, all of Rome, Italy. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Romana’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
